Corporate Portraits and Head shots

Why have a professional corporate head shot?

Marketing experts agree, the rapid rise of internet-based social networking sites has been a game-changer in the way business owners and executives need to promote their themselves.

Today, the first time a prospect has contact with you will be via your website, Linkedin, Google+  or some other social media.   An integral part of building or maintaining a successful business is putting the right image out into the world, quite literally.

First impressions have always mattered; in the past it was all about the handshake.  In today’s web-centered world, an impressive head shot can be equally important as a firm grip.

Three styles of corporate or professional head shots

Studio head shot: As the name suggest, these shots look as if they were taken in a studio, with studio lighting.  Usually cropped as wide as from the shoulders higher or as tight as just the head.

Environmental head shot: Usually these are taken at the place of work.  Showcasing something about the industry.

Active head shot: Shots take on location, where the subject is engaged is some activity.  Activity range form running a meeting, giving a speech or just preforming one of the daily activities.

“The most important part of your LinkedIn profile is your picture.”

I found this great web video today called “The Do’s and Dont’s of LinkedIn Branding” by Kevin Nichols.

A very interesting video, about 7 minutes into the talk, the Mr. Nichols mentions what marketing people have been saying for a while now.

“The most important part of your LinkedIn profile is your picture. It’s your first impression!  It’s worth hiring a professional”

This is solid gold advice for personal branding.
